As many of you know, we finally fulfilled a life long dream of owning our own little place on the beach. We are so thrilled to have our own little get away, fondly nicknamed “Don’t Wanna Leave!”
We’ve had so many people ask us if it’s available for rent – so we’ve decided to rent it out on a first-come-first-serve basis, but only for a limited number of weeks (after all, we plan on using it ourselves quite a bit). We created this post to tell any potential renters about our little piece of heaven.

“Jeanne and Stan’s Beach” is currently located at Pinnacle Port – a 26 acre beach resort tucked away at Carillon Beach at the western edge of Bay County, FL. (I say “currently” because “Jeanne and Stan’s Beach” is really just a descriptive for “wherever we are hanging out” on the beach. As such, it’s been geo-tagged in quite a few locations up and down the panhandle.) With the purchase of the condo at Pinnacle Port though, I think it’s safe to say that “Jeanne and Stan’s Beach” has found a good resting point. Pinnacle Port, in our opinion, couldn’t be more perfect:
-
- The resort sits gulf front on 26 acres located on a virtual peninsula: The Gulf of Mexico is on the South side, with Phillips Inlet on the West connecting to Lake Powell on the North. It’s literally surrounded by water, dunes and a coastal dune lake.
- While the resort itself is comprised of condos – they’re the only condo buildings around! To the west is Camp Helen and the seaside communities of Inlet Beach and Rosemary and to the east is Carillon, so the views are very sea side picturesque and there are no PCB or Destin type crowds of people. In fact, other than the the peak holiday and summer weeks, the beach is amazingly tranquil with just a peppering of beach lovers enjoying the sun, sand and surf (sometimes I find myself completely alone on the beach!) Of course, the summer weeks are filled with vacationers (mainly families but a good diverse group of young and old), but there’s still plenty of room to pitch an umbrella or tent and claim your little piece of heaven!
-
30-A (with Rosemary Beach, Seacrest, Seaside, Watercolor and Grayton) is literally around the corner (the only thing separating Pinnacle Port from 30-A is Phillips Inlet/Lake Powell/Camp Helen). You’ll love that you can enjoy all that 30-A has to offer, without the 30-A price tag (or crowds). How close is it? Rosemary Beach is your view from the west side of the condo (2.7 miles by vehicle).
- Panama City Beach is just 10 minutes to the East (Pier Park is just 8 miles down Highway 98).
- Destin is 30 minutes to the West (Silver Sands Outlet Mall is just 30 miles to the West). On a clear day – most days actually – you can see the Destin skyline on the horizon from the living room.
- It’s inside a secluded, gated, security patrolled beach community – shared with Carillon Beach, a private,
planned community reminiscent of 30-A developments like Rosemary, Watercolor or Seaside. Its secluded area, while close to all the aforementioned tourist cities, is quiet and there are no city lights to compete with the backdrop of stars over the ocean at night.
- It’s on the BEACH! No streets to cross, just walk out the building onto the beach. A nice, sandy HUGE beach.
The Condo:
The condo, located in the Tower Building, is a 2 bedroom, 2 and half bath unit in a two story townhouse type floorplan, which gives it a more home type feel than your typical beach condo, and plenty of room to spread out and find private spaces when you need to decompress.
Downstairs you’ll find a fully equipped (and well appointed) kitchen, living room and laundry room (full size washer and dryer) and a half bath. We remodeled quite a bit in 2012 with new furniture, flooring, wall paint, cabinet paint and new pulls, and granite countertops. There’s also a 42″ TV with cable as well as a Roku box for watching Netflix movies on demand or listening to Pandora.
There’s a sleeper sofa, loveseat and recliner – so plenty of room to chill after supper.
The living room also has a beautiful balcony overlooking the western beach (this is where you’ll see fabulous sunsets) with panoramic views of the Gulf, Phillip’s Inlet, Lake Powell, Camp Helen, Inlet Beach and Rosemary Beach.
Upstairs you’ll find the guest bedroom, guest bath, master bedroom and master bath. The guest bedroom also overlooks the western beach and the coastal dunes surrounding Phillip’s Inlet and Lake Powell (the view is simply gorgeous). This bedroom has a queen bed as well as a twin bed w/trundle (can convert to two twins or a king). It’s perfect for a couple or as a kids bedroom. There is also a TV (with cable) and plenty of closet room for storage. There’s a full guest bathroom in the hallway with a tiled walk-in shower (with plenty of HOT water).
The gulf-front master bedroom has a wall-of-water view of the ocean (and private balcony, complete with table and chairs for enjoying your morning coffee while watching the dolphins play or an afternoon/evening relaxing to the sounds of the surf). There’s also a 32″ TV (with cable) and plenty of closet space! The master bathroom has a full sized tub/shower. And don’t worry about “staying connected” – if that’s your thing, the condo has DSL and Wi-Fi – strategically located near the master balcony so you can pick up the connection on the beach (great for streaming Pandora to your beach speaker).
Amenities:
The property has tons of activities to keep your family busy. The large pool (huge – 118,000 gallons) is attached to the tower building (where our condo is located) and sits Gulf-front so you can see and hear the waves while swimming or catching some rays on the sprawling gulf front pool deck (there’s also a smaller pool across the parking lot from the mid-rise buildings). And, if you’re hungry, there’s no need to go hunting for food: The Cabana Cafe (open during the summer season) is located right on the pool deck and serves a wide variety of food to make everyone happy (sandwiches, nachos, breakfast fare, ice cream, etc). Treat yourself to a cheeseburger in paradise (cooked to order – “I like mine with lettuce and tomato” – and you can even add jalapeños and mushroooms) or their famous grouper sandwich. Hint: The Cabana Cafe uses fresh food (real ground beef – not frozen patties) and since all sandwiches are cooked to order, give them plenty of time to get your order ready (I usually order about 45 minutes before I want to eat – then I just go back and sit on the beach until it’s ready). There’s nothing like hanging on the beach all day, and getting a cheeseburger-in-paradise on demand – and never having to leave to do it! (Hint # 2: It’s cash only! )
Oh – and don’t forget about Tuesday Night Movie Night on the pool deck (summer season only) – completely free and open to all guests and owners. It’s a bit like going to a drive in – on the beach! Each week a family friendly movie is shown (via a projector on a big blow up screen) on the pool deck – the sound is played through the pool side speaker system, giving a very “retro drive in” movie feel. The Cabana, which normally closes at 6, stays open late on movie night – so you can eat AND watch a movie with the kids.
Last (but not least) in regards to the pool: Half of the big pool at the Tower is enclosed by roof – great to enjoy cool waters if you’ve overexposed yourself (or the kiddos) to the sun – and also offers shelter on the rare rainy day. During the winter, this section of the pool is completely enclosed and heated to a comfortable 82 degrees.
Is tennis your thing? If so, you’ll be happy to find four tennis courts – great for hitting balls when the air cools off in the evenings (there’s also four shuffleboard courts if that’s more your style).
One of the best amenities is the natural 880 acre Lake Powell.
Canoes and kayaks for use on the lake are available for rent at the office. A dock and boat slips are also accessible for Pinnacle Port guests. The docks allow for some very good fishing, but make sure you get your Florida fishing license!
Really just want to grill a steak or some fresh seafood? No problem – there are also two picnic areas with charcoal grills – one is located in the parking lot just outside the northeast door of the Tower, so you don’t have to walk far and can enjoying grilling outside with the fresh gulf breeze.
A colorful children’s playground is located on the west end of property. And there are saunas located in the ground floor of the tower building.
And, of course, the best amenity of all:
