Raise your hand if you hail from the 901? Yes? Then as Mellencamp’s lyrics go,  we bet you’ve vacationed “down at the shores of the Gulf of Mexico”.

Heck, you might even live there, now. Whether you’re an 850 part-timer, full-time transplant, or just love to visit, there’s a unique cultural idenity for those of us that hail from the 901, but hang out in the 850.  And, if you’re like us, you’re used to questions like:

“Where do you stay?”
“What’s the closest beach to…..?”
“What’s the best driving directions from…?”
“Where’s the best place to get oysters?”
“What’s the best dinner on the beach?”

There’s a million places on the net to get those answers – but those answers may be wholly different if you hail from say, some place where snowflakes don’t shut down the city. There is a specific flavor to the 901 and to our coveted Seven Days of Saturdays

So we want YOUR ideas on favorite eats, best places to stay, and of course, your tried and true “fastest way to the beach” when you absolutely, positively have to get there o̶v̶e̶r̶n̶i̶g̶h̶t̶  in less than 8 hours. You swear it!

So show us your #901inthe850 love. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.  (And we promise to swear that your route is definitely the fastest, if it just wasn’t for that awful traffic jam between Birmingham and Montgomery.)
